As God’s children, nothing is received or accomplished without faith. If you want to walk in wisdom, you must believe that it is possible and that God has given it to you. According to the Scripture, it is impossible to please God without faith (Heb 11: 6). And if you can’t please Him, you can’t receive from Him and you will continually live in doubt.
God is a giver; a generous one, for the matter. He loves to give. He enjoys giving. He delights in giving. He knows how to give. He wants to give because He does not want us to lack. He gives and continues to give as long as you are not tired of asking. It is in the place of asking for wisdom that the apostle James revealed to us another aspect of God’s character which we have not thought about before. He wrote that “who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame” (James 1: 5b, AMP). God does not shame people. He does not blame people. He does not rebuke people. He will not think that you are wrong for asking. He will not belittle you. He will not humiliate you. He will not think that you are bothering or disturbing Him. He will not condescend to you for asking. He won’t think you are too much for asking. You won’t get on His nerve for asking.
"And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace. Just make sure you ask empowered by confident faith without doubting that you will receive. For the ambivalent person believes one minute and doubts the next. Being undecided makes you become like the rough seas driven and tossed by the wind. You’re up one minute and tossed down the next" (Jam 1: 5-6, TPT).
The reason some of us might not be asking is that we think that God will think that we ought to know or figure things out by ourselves. In fact, the opposite is true. He expects you to ask Him. He is surprised if you are trying to do or figure things out on your own without His help or input especially since He knows how to help and get you through it. Remember, He is a good Father who knows how to give good things to His children and wisdom is a good thing. Acting wisely is a good thing. Since He wants and expects all His children to act wisely, He will be glad to generously give you wisdom (Mt 7: 7-11).
Now that you know, I want to encourage you to ask Him for His wisdom and strategies to handle the issues of life, especially if and when you don’t know what you are doing. You don’t have to fake being wise. it is humiliating when people around you find out that you are just not what you have claimed to be. They will be disappointed in you and you will eventually lose their trust and respect.
After you have prayed, you must start operating in that wisdom because you know that God has loaded you with it. You must start using that wisdom that you believe you have received from God, one day at a time. Start making decisions as per how you think God would have done it. Start following the intuition within. Start following the leading of the Holy Spirit (1Jn 2: 20, 27).
You see, God always leads us in the right path (Ps 23: 4). So, you must follow Him and start acting contrary to your fear. Start doing the opposite of what you would normally have done if you had not prayed. For example, if you were supposed to yell at your children or spouse, the wise thing you can start doing is to learn how to speak with a soft and calm tone. If you would have responded with fear over an issue, you must behave differently and respond in faith because you have the wisdom of God to act as God in that situation.
When you start operating in faith because you know that God has answered your prayers, there will no be room to second-guess or doubt yourself again.
Prayer: Lord, I believe, please help my unbelief in Jesus’ name. Amen!
