Day 1: God, before the Beginning

God began the beginning. Before anything existed, there was God. He began Himself. He is self-sustaining. Self-generative. He is the Ancient of days who never gets old. He is God and not a man.

God acts like God. God thinks like God. God speaks like God. He does everything He does like God because He is God. The Bible says He is from everlasting to everlasting, He will never cease to exist as God (Ps 90: 1-2). He will always remain and continue at the same time. He is eternal. He does not change nor is He given to change. Yet, He changes everything. He changes times and seasons. He is sovereign. He does everything that pleases Him or gives Him pleasure (Ps 115: 3).

He once introduced Himself as the I AM and said this is how He wants us to know and relate to Him forever (Exo 3: 13-15). This is the declaration of His self-existence and unchanging nature. God wants us to know that He is not limited by time or space and that He is the ultimate source of being. He is not limited in scope and resources. The consciousness of this name should be liberating to and stabilize us as His people. He is not limited in power, wisdom, or creativity. He is not limited in ability. God is always relevant. He is always trending because He has always been.

God acts like God. God thinks like God. God speaks like God. He does everything He does like God because He is God.

Every good thing begins with God. He created everything through His wisdom (Ps 104: 34, Pro 3: 19; 8: 27-29, Jer 10: 12; 51: 15). God’s wisdom reveals His authenticity and craftsmanship. It reveals His creativity. The way He purposed everything, planned everything, prepared everything, made everything to function, designed the world, orderly and properly arranged and rearranged things out of chaos, situated the earth, combined the colors, put everything in place, shaped everything, manifested everything, and sustained everything can only be God.

No wonder anytime He wants to get anything done in the earth that will reflect His love, goodness, handiwork, nature, character, and intelligence, He first supplies wisdom. Here is the lesson to learn, before you too want to start anything, it will be wise to consult Him for His wisdom. No matter what He asked you to do, you must ask Him first for the wisdom to do it.

God is the source of wisdom “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Pro 2: 6). He is “the only wise God” (Jude 1: 25). That means if we want to enjoy His company, we too must be wise. Wisdom is always accompanied by knowledge and understanding. It is noteworthy that wisdom doesn’t come from trends or social media—it comes from the Lord. When we know this, we can always go to Him for wisdom.

No wonder anytime He wants to get anything done in the earth that will reflect His handiwork, nature, character, and intelligence, He first supplies wisdom.

Every day in the month of June, I will be exploring different thoughts on wisdom with us by the Holy Ghost. Please read, meditate, and share this with your loved ones even with your enemies (if you have any).

Prayer:
God, I thank you because you are my God and the source of wisdom. You made everything by your wisdom. Help me to remember daily that You are the source of wisdom. Help me turn to You instead of relying on my own thoughts or the world’s advice in Jesus’ name. Amen!
