Day 12: Like Father, Like Children

God’s delight is for us as His people. He rejoices over us. He sings over us and He wants us to know that. Unfortunately, many of us don’t know the extent of God’s love for us. We must always remember that we did not earn His love, He chose to give Himself to us because He is love.

God made the executive decision to love us despite us. He loves us before we love Him. He has loved us before the foundation of the world. His love for us is everlasting. So, the last thing God wants us to worry about is whether His love will not be there for us tomorrow or the next day or the next day. Please believe Him when He says there is nothing that will separate you from His love. God not only loves us but He also made us perfect, flawless, righteous, and blameless in His sight.

One of the things that delight His heart is not only that we respond positively to His love but also to live as wise people since He is the only wise God. He loves it when His children embrace His word and act on it. In a nutshell, He wants you to be wise because wisdom is important to Him. He wants it to be said of us that like father, like son.

We must, therefore, be like our heavenly Father who is wise in all His ways. There is nothing that beats the fact that a wise son makes a happy father (Pro 10: 1). God’s supernatural wisdom resides in us and we will do well to live our lives with that wisdom and thereby bring joy to His heart. So that whenever He thinks of us, He smiles.

It is a bad business when a wise father gives birth to a fool. It is vanity and like chasing of the wind when we are acting stupid. God does not want us to live as fools. He advised us to be wise. He inspired the apostle Paul to write:

"Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people]..." (Eph 5: 15, AMP).

So, living wisely is a way to reflect God, His nature, and character. We become the testimony of God’s goodness and a witness to His wisdom when we act wisely. Moses, the servant of the Lord told the children of Israel that:

"Pay attention: I’m teaching you the rules and regulations that God commanded me, so that you may live by them in the land you are entering to take up ownership. Keep them. Practice them. You’ll become wise and understanding. When people hear and see what’s going on, they’ll say, “What a great nation! So wise, so understanding! We’ve never seen anything like it” (Deu 4: 5-6, the Message).

Therefore, as a child of God, remember this: “wisdom is the principal thing; so, get wisdom…” so that it can be said of you like father like son.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to bear your name as I ought to and help me to reflect your wisdom in Jesus’ name. Amen!
