Day 15: Be a Wise Son

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers everywhere. I believe you are not reading this blog by accident. One of the things we can do to celebrate our fathers, especially God (our Heavenly Father) is to walk in wisdom as children. King Solomon once wrote: “a wise son brings joy to his father but a foolish man despises his mother” (Pro 10: 1; 15: 20). We cannot avoid being foolish because we will be playing to the hands of the devil unawares.

Wisdom is one of the things that we can call sine qua non. That means it is very indispensable and an essential requirement for living a godly and fulfilling life. That is why it is too high for a fool (Pro 24: 7). Yet, it is too costly to be a fool.

One way to say thank you to God and bring joy to His heart today is to be wise. Remember, “having a fool for a child is misery; it’s no fun being the parent of a dolt” (Pro 17: 21, the Message). The reason is that: “a surly, stupid child is sheer pain to a father, a bitter pill for a mother to swallow (Pro 17: 25, the Message).

You are not a fool. You are not stupid. You are a delight to God and He smiles over you. Therefore, go out there and represent well.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you today because I am a wise child who brings joy to you heart. I delight in you today because you delight in me in Jesus’ name.
