One of the good news of the kingdom of God is that God will not hide anything good from us. So, His wisdom is available to us right now and He has provided us with different ways to get it. Today, I want to explore some of those ways:
- Salvation: if you want to access God’s wisdom, you have to belong to Him. You must be born from above to access the wisdom that is from above. When you are born from above, you receive the Spirit that is not of this world. You receive the spirit of God and Father and you become a partaker of the divine nature. If you are not saved, you are still a natural man who cannot operate the wisdom of God.
- Pay Attention to God’s word: God’s word is the architect of God’s acts. If you want to be wise God’s way, you must abide in His word and His word must abide in you. God’s word reveals God’s wisdom. If you don’t receive His word, you cannot engage His wisdom. God’s secrets are hidden in His word. So, as we understand His word, we can access His secrets. More importantly, Jesus is the word of God. God created everything through His word and when we operate His wisdom we too can create with our words which is God’s.
- Meditate on God’s word: Not only are you to read or study God’s word, but you must study it to get and retrieve insight from it. God’s wisdom proceeds out of God’s mouth and by thinking about it and speaking it out do we get to experience it. It is by meditating that we process God’s word and become more insightful.
- Act on God’s word: it is not enough to read and meditate on God’s word, but you must also be willing to do it. Only those who go beyond hearing to doing that are blessed. Jesus speaking about the importance of hearing God’s word reflected: “So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, will be like a wise man [a far-sighted, practical, and sensible man] who built his house on the rock…” (Mt 7: 24, AMPC).
- Be filled with the Spirit of God: In Isaiah 11, the prophet says the spirit of wisdom has rested upon and is in us. The apostle Paul prayed that we would be filled with the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know God (Eph 1: 17) . With the Holy Spirit in us, the wisdom of God dwells in us. Remember, we are the temple of the Holy Ghost (1Cor 6: 19). We have the Spirit of Christ who is also the Spirit of God residing permanently in us.
- Ask: Apostle James asked us to pray for wisdom if we need it (Jam 1:5). Jesus told us to ask because it will be given to us (Mt 7: 7-11). Since God knows how to give good things and wisdom is a good thing, then we can ask in faith with the assurance that He will endow us with His wisdom.
- Make friends with wise people: The Bible reveals in Proverbs 13: 20 that those who walk with the wise will be wise. Who are your friends? Whose company are you in? You must make friends with those people who love wisdom if you don’t want to make a fool of yourself.
- Live wisely: Wisdom is stored up for the wise. Being wise is a prerequisite for God’s wisdom. Some people think that being stupid qualifies one to have wisdom. Remember, a fool will not seek wisdom. A fool rejects wisdom (Pro 1: 7b; 23: 9).
So, if you are struggling with handling life’s issues, you can ask Him. So, let’s do that right now in the name of Jesus.
Pray: Lord make me wise in Jesus’ name. Amen!
