Day 2 — You Are My Beloved Son

Scripture: Luke 3:22; Romans 8:15–17

“And a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” — Luke 3:22 (KJV)

Before Jesus began His public ministry, the Father declared His love and pleasure in Him. Before the miracles, the crowds, and the disciples, there was the Father’s affirmation: You are My beloved Son. This reveals a powerful truth: your identity is not something you must earn through performance. So often, we strive to prove our worth through achievements, recognition, and the approval of others. We believe that if we do enough, accomplish enough, or become good enough, we will finally feel valuable. The truth is that your identity comes before your accomplishments.

Through Jesus Christ, you are invited into God’s family today. Today marks a new beginning in your life. Today is your birthday. Hebrews 1:5 uses the words, “Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee” (KJV), quoting Psalm 2:7. In Hebrews, this language declares the unique status and supremacy of Jesus, God’s Son and your status in Him.

You are precious to Him, valued and treasured in His sight. You do not have to compete for His attention or spend your life trying to prove that you are worthy of love. Through Christ, you are accepted into His family, and you can rest in the security of belonging to Him. God delights in you. He is well pleased with you. You are worthy of His love because you are His beloved just like Jesus. You are deeply loved, not merely tolerated. He is not disappointed in you. You are His favorite. You are esteemed. He is fond of you. You have His seal of approval. He takes pleasure in you. He thinks well of you. He has willingly approved you.

When you understand this, failure no longer has to define you. You can find your worth in Him. You do not obey God to earn His love; you pursue obedience because you are responding to His grace. Today, stop treating your life as an audition for acceptance. Through Christ, you can approach your Heavenly Father with confidence, knowing that your identity rests in His grace, not your performance.

You are invited to live from the security of God’s love, not spend your life striving to prove your worth.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me understand my identity in Christ. Free me from striving for approval and teach me to live securely in Your grace. Shape my heart to reflect Jesus and help me remember that I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s declaration: Through Jesus Christ, I am a beloved child of God. I do not have to prove my worth. He loves me and takes pleasure in me. He is well-pleased with me. I belong to Him.
