Scripture: Ephesians 1:13–14; Ephesians 4:30; 2 Corinthians 1:21–22
Have you ever wondered how you can be sure that you belong to God? In a world where relationships change, promises are sometimes broken, and feelings fluctuate, God has given believers a powerful assurance of their identity in Christ as His children: the seal of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1: 13–14 teaches that when we hear the gospel of salvation and believe in Christ, we are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. Paul describes the Spirit as the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own possession. In biblical times, a seal could signify ownership, authenticity, and authority. In a similar way, the Holy Spirit’s presence in the believer testifies to God’s saving work and points toward the inheritance He has promised in Christ.
You are not responsible for securing your place in God’s family through your own strength. Your hope rests in what God has accomplished through Jesus and what He has promised to complete. Ephesians 4:30 reminds believers not to grieve the Holy Spirit, by whom they were sealed for the day of redemption. God’s seal is not permission to live carelessly; it is a reason to live with gratitude, reverence, and confidence.
Being sealed with the Holy Spirit you should never struggle or doubt your sonship. The Holy Spirit indwells believers, helps us grow in Christlike character, guides us in truth, and empowers us to live faithfully. You do not need to measure God’s faithfulness solely by your emotions or feelings. Your trust in God overrides your feelings. Even when you don’t feel that you are a child of God, the seal assurance of the Spirit will not be broken or compromised. He will stick with you until the end. So, remember that you belong to God. Let that truth shape your choices, strengthen your faith, and encourage you to walk in a manner worthy of the One who has called you.
